Business Against Crime South Africa (BACSA) and the SA Police Service (SAPS) yesterday (25 August 2010) signed a formal partnership agreement in Johannesburg in the presence of the BACSA Board and SAPS officials from the Office of the National Commissioner.
BACSA co-ordinates the signing of a MOU between the SAPS and members of the Security Industry Alliance to maximise the use of all available resources within the Honeydew cluster area. This partnership forms the basis of a replicable model of support to high crime communities and assists to improve the response time to reported violent crime incidents through the structured combination of private and public anti-crime forces. This event took place on 24 June 2009.
On 3 June 2009, Business Against Crime South Africa in conjunction with key stakeholders, demonstrated the process followed for the application of the microdot technology to a vehicle. The steps of the process were talked through by Derek Menday of DataDot.
This live demonstration was held at Nissan SA, Rosslyn Pretoria. Nissan SA has used the microdot technology on all its vehicles since Oct / Nov 2006.
20 May 2009 - BACSA and stakeholders including the SAPS, the SANDF, the Department of Transport, the Vehicle Security Association of South Africa (VESA), the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), Nissan SA, and four microdot suppliers exploded a microdotted Nissan Almera on the Kroonstad Military Base to test the resilience of the microdot technology. On the 14 May 2009, the South African Insurance Association (SAIA) contributed to the fight against crime for the 8th consecutive year. The organisation contributed over R 1.5 million towards efforts which address the Trio crimes (house robberies, business robberies and vehicle hijackings) and road safety.

Business Against Crime South Africa, the Gauteng SAPS and the South African Insurance Association (SAIA) celebrated the culmination of two years' worth of effort in a graduation ceremony that saw 500 Gauteng Detectives successully complete training.
The Premier Paul Mashatile provided the keynote address.
