Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (DPCI) Launched Today

Date: 6 July 2009

The new Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (DPCI) was launched today by Minister Nathi Mthethwa and Deputy Minister Fikile Mbalula at Gallagher Estate. Rebranded as the Hawks, the Directorate will address serious organised and commercial crimes and corruption. Anwa Dramat, the recently appointed Head of the Directorate, pledged his commitment to making the Directorate work. The Directorate now falling under the SAPS and the National Police Commissioner, rather than housed within the NPA, is in the process of recruiting and vetting men and women of integrity and competence to drive this high performance Directorate.
